Hail Claim

ICON: Drone Home Property Inspection

A thorough roof inspection is a key piece of a successful hail claim.

During your inspection, a Public Adjuster will get on the roof to physically inspect, or use a drone to get a bird’s eye view of the hail damage to your roof. They will look for shingle granule loss as well as missing or damaged shingles.

ICON: Repair or Replace Roof

Do you need a full roof replacement or will partial repairs restore the property to it’s former condition?

Your insurer may agree to only replace one slope of the roof—even if there’s damage elsewhere—to keep the claim below the deductible amount and avoid paying toward the claim! The carrier may also argue that hail damage is just standard “blistering.” (This is where hiring a Public Adjuster comes in handy.)

Watch out for common issues with hail claims.

People are often shocked by the amount of depreciation that is applied to their roof/home value. Insureds with ACV (Actual Cash Value) policies are left holding the bag when it comes to roof repairs and replacements.

Why does your deductible matter when it comes to hail damage?

A deductible is an amount you must pay before your insurance company pays. Sometimes, the deductible for wind and hail damage is different than the deductible for other types of damage. If it is, you are likely to pay more out-of-pocket if your roof is damaged in a storm. Your deductible is a large factor in determining your settlement amount for roof claims due to hail damage. Texas policyholders should read their policy document to fully understand their financial liability when it comes to these types of claims.

Remember that a Public Adjuster can help you interpret the meaning of your policy language and guide you through the hail claim process.

"Public Adjusters ensure policyholders are compensated in alignment with their actual loss, not just what the insurance carrier assumes or asserts."

How To Select a Trustworthy Contractor

It’s easy to do a quick online search, but testimonials from other customers and word of mouth are still going to be your best guides to looking for a trustworthy contractor to perform work after hail damage.

  • Companies/contractors that have established credibility and local references signal quality workmanship, responsiveness, and reliability. Look for positive reviews or ask family, friends, and neighbors for recommendations.
  • Stick with licensed and insured contractors. This means they’ve gone through the appropriate technical training and provide services in line with industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Make sure your contractors — including roofers — have workers' compensation and liability insurance. Otherwise, you may be held liable if they get injured or if they damage a neighboring property.
